The growth of Dubai's podcasting scene

Dubai's podcasting scene is rapidly expanding with a growing number of independent and corporate podcasters entering the market.

According to a recent report by Insider Intelligence, the number of podcast downloads in the Middle East has grown by 70% in the past year alone, indicating a rising demand for audio content.

One of the key industry topics in Dubai's podcasting scene is the diversity of content. With a multicultural population, Dubai's podcasters have a wide range of topics to choose from, including lifestyle, technology, business, and culture. One notable example is the "Dubai Works" podcast, from digital media company, Lovin’ Dubai, which features interviews with entrepreneurs and industry leaders in Dubai's business world.

"Podcasting is a great way to connect with audiences in a more intimate and engaging way.”

According to statistics from Buzzsprout, a leading podcast hosting platform, the average podcast episode length in Dubai is around 30 minutes, which is slightly longer than the global average of 25 minutes. The data indicates that Dubai's podcast listeners are willing to invest more time in listening to their favorite shows. In addition, the report by Insider Intelligence revealed that the majority of podcast listeners in the Middle East are between the ages of 18-34, with a preference for listening on mobile devices.

Commenting on the growth of podcasting in Dubai, Ian Carless, Partner of Airstream 4 Podcast Studio, said, "Podcasting is a great way to connect with audiences in a more intimate and engaging way. With the rise of audio content, we are seeing a valued addition to the way people consume media, and podcasting is at the forefront of this change."

Similarly, Richard Fitzgerald, CEO of Lovin’ Dubai, the Dubai-based digital media company that produces the popular business podcast Dubai Works, commented, "Dubai's podcasting scene is thriving with a diverse range of content creators and audiences. We are excited to be a part of this growing community and look forward to seeing how the industry continues to evolve."

It’s perhaps no surprise then that Dubai's podcasting scene continues to offer a dynamic and diverse landscape, one that is seeing steady growth in both listenership and content creation. And as with many things in the city that doesn’t like to take ‘no’ for an answer, podcasting looks like scaling new heights alongside the already impressive Dubai skyline.
